CARE & MAINTENANCE

Good care is simple. A few daily habits will keep your countertops looking great for many years.

QUICK DAILY RULES (ALL MATERIALS)

  • Clean with mild dish soap + water

  • Use a soft cloth or microfiber towel

  • Always use cutting boards

  • Use trivets or hot pads for hot pans

  • Wipe spills as soon as possible

  • Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals

  • Do not sit or stand on countertop overhangs

CLEANERS: WHAT TO USE & WHAT TO AVOID

         SAFE TO USE

  • Mild dish soap

  • pH‑neutral stone cleaner

  • Warm water

  • Microfiber or soft cotton cloth

    AVOID

  • Bleach or ammonia

  • Oven or grill cleaners

  • Vinegar, lemon, or acidic cleaners

  • Paint thinner or solvent‑based products

  • Abrasive powders or scrub pads

QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS (LOW MAINTENANCE)

Quartz surfaces are engineered and very easy to care for.

Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with mild soap and water

  • Dry with a microfiber cloth to prevent streaks

Heat & Impact

  • Always use trivets for hot cookware

  • Avoid placing hot pans directly on the surface

What to Avoid

  • Harsh or abrasive cleaners

  • Strong degreasers and oven cleaners

Even though quartz is durable, excessive heat and harsh chemicals can damage the surface.

NATURAL STONE COUNTERTOPS

(Granite, Quartzite, Soapstone, Limestone, Marble)

Natural stone is a product of nature. Each slab is unique and requires gentle care.

Daily Cleaning

  • Mild soap and water or pH‑neutral stone cleaner

  • Wipe dry to avoid water spots

Sealing

  • Some natural stones may require periodic sealing

  • Sealing helps reduce absorption, but it does not make stone stain‑proof

  • Sealing needs vary by material, finish, and use

General Tips

  • Wipe spills quickly

  • Use cutting boards and coasters

  • Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners

MARBLE (EXTRA CARE REQUIRED)

Marble is elegant and timeless, but more sensitive than other stones.

Daily Care

  • Clean only with mild soap and water

  • Dry the surface after cleaning

Spill Protection

  • Wipe spills immediately, especially:

    • Wine

    • Coffee

    • Citrus

    • Vinegar

Important to Know

  • Marble can etch from acidic substances

  • Etching and patina develop naturally over time

  • These marks are normal and part of marble’s character

STAINS, ETCHING & SPILLS

Marble is elegant and timeless, but more sensitive than other stones.

If a spill happens:

  1. Blot (do not wipe) the spill

  2. Clean with mild soap and water

  3. Dry the area completely

If a stain or mark remains:

  • Do not use harsh chemicals

  • Avoid DIY remedies found online

  • Contact a professional for guidance

When in doubt, stop and ask. The wrong cleaner can make damage worse.

CUTTING, HEAT & DAILY USE

  • Do not cut directly on the surface

  • Use trivets under hot pans, air fryers, and slow cookers

  • Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects

  • Do not stand or sit on overhangs

A NOTE ON NATURAL VARIATION

  • According to the Natural Stone Institute:

  • Natural stone may have variations in color, veining, and texture

  • These variations are normal and expected

  • Proper care helps preserve the beauty of the material
